Abstract
This paper is based on data using information theory and statistics. Among Boris Pasternak’s works, “My Sister Life” is, after “Over the Barriers”, the most complex of his poetry books. The complexity of its multi-level structure parallels its aesthetical complexity that comes from the unusual combination of avant-gardist and romanticist aesthetics. The tension it creates allows an extremely powerful catharsis to occur, which makes Pasternak one of the best Russian poets of the twentieth century.
